My Art Journey

Like many artists I began painting at an early age, but after the passing of my young son I turned to art for therapy and solace. Art has become my life's passion and my work comes from a deeply emotional place.

One day I visited the Irvine Museum and stood in front of a large William Wendt painting that showed the beautiful rolling hills and coastal oaks of Southern California. When the docent told me that the painting’s location was current-day Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, my heart sank. The beauty that Wendt captured was forever gone.  My landscapes come from this emotional place and aim to capture a moment of time and the spiritual nature of a place.

I am also passionate about animals. I grew up on the back of a horse, riding miles through the canyons of California. I lived amongst the wildlife and cattle that grazed the hillsides. My aim is to represent the dignity and personalty of each animal, and give them as much respect as a human portrait.

I work in oil, in a representational, impressionistic, and painterly manner.
